O projektu

Med COVID-19 krizo in izzivi, s katerimi se soočajo izobraževalne ustanove, potrebuje izobraževalni sektor kot celota kratkoročne rešitve, s katerimi se je mogoče odzvati na to in morebitne prihodnje krize.

Projekt A.M.O.R. (Advanced Measurements of Responses to the Challenges of Social Skills Development in the Digital Era) odgovarja na to potrebo.

YES Forum

Founded in 2002, YES Forum is a European network of organisations working with and for young people with fewer opportunities. By promoting their social inclusion and developing their professional skills, we act to improve the life chances of vulnerable young people. YES Forum aims to create positive change to combating poverty and inequalities across Europe.

Throughout the network’s 20 years of existence, we have established ourselves in a unique position; bringing young people and professionals, who work directly on the field, into dialogue with policy makers and EU institutions. We act as a bridge that gives the means to young people to have a voice in decision-making processes that influence their lives. We work towards providing young people with the needed skills that allow long-term development growth. Collectively, the network reaches over 650.000 young people across Europe.

STRUCTURE

Our network is composed of 40 member-organisations that act on national and regional levels and are located in 19 European countries (out of 17 EU MS). The members of the network offer (youth) social services, education, training and qualification, youth work. They work with young people that are most likely to experience social exclusion.

By having this diverse group of members, the YES Forum proves the adequate and experienced expertise to ensure appropriate and tailored strategies to reach a wide range of young people. At the same time, this demonstrates proficiency to take a cohesive approach toward providing more individualised services and support to young people facing multiple barriers.

The YES Forum is driven by its members, who have overall decision-making authority. The network is represented by the appointed Managing Director, who is responsible for running the business and the internal organisation. The management Board, elected by the members, supervises the budget and the activities. through our democratic structure, we count with the full participation of members to plan the network actions. The diversity of members involved in the YES Forum’s work requires multiple ways of engaging with them.

To coordinate the activities and to support effective internal and external communication, the YES Forum is supported by the Secretariat in Stuttgart. In the Secretariat, experienced staff works together in a dynamic environment.

ACTIVITIES

To build a stronger Europe, our societies need to enable citizens, especially young people, to make the most of opportunities.

In order to respond to the challenges and opportunities faced by young people, the YES Forum creates room for peer learning and exchange of inspiring practises, the sustainable development of labour market competences and transversal skills like working together, critical thinking, and creating problem solving, as recommended by the European Skills Agenda for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience.

By providing formal and non-formal learning, the YES Forum promotes social inclusion and active participation of young people with vulnerable background in society, thus contributing to the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan. The YES Forum focuses on education and training, youth employment, youth participation and social inclusion. With the ESF+ operating grant, the YES Forum implements activities in the following three areas:

  1. Policy and Advocacy:

Through our work, we seek to influence policies and perceptions in order to create better life opportunities for young people. We contribute to the development of policies on youth and social affairs by transferring knowledge gained through practical experience and by giving the young people a voice which decision-makers hear and pay attention to. The aim is on giving a voice to professionals working with vulnerable young people and including young people whose voices may be overlooked.

The YES Forum contributes to the debate and to the advancement of policy issues affecting young people and youth service providers at European, national, regional and local levels. We engage in civil dialogue with EU institutions and contribute with research and policy recommendations on key topics.

With this work we:

– transfer concrete expertise and experience of professionals directly to the political sphere,

– support young people to make sure their opinion is considered when taking decisions that affect their lives,

– aim to break the intergenerational cycles of disadvantage by providing opportunities to young people from vulnerable background in order to reduce the existing gap between them and other young people

Moreover, we organise and take part in high-level meetings with executive representatives of EU bodies (especially the European Commission’s DG EMPL and DG EAC, the European Parliament’s DG COMM, and Youth Outreach Unit, EESC) and MEPs. We build alliances with other networks towards a more inclusive Europe.

  1. Capacity building:

Although all the members of the YES Forum are working with and for young people, their form of action, approach and structure vary greatly between each other. That is why the YES Forum organises workshops, trainings and webinars open for member organisations and also for professionals working with marginalised young people, while providing room for peer learning and exchange of inspiring practices. This helps to actively engage our network members in implementing the EPSR locally.

Tailor-made assistance to young people helps in breaking the intergenerational cycles of disadvantage, thus fostering social inclusion and combating poverty. More than events in which members can simply share their successful stories, the capacity building activities aim at helping organisations understand a practice and/ or a method, recognise which parts could be applied in their own context and learn how to adapt it.

Capacity building is an important aspect to the YES Forum membership development. The YES Forum aims to grow as a network in order to be a stronger actor to contribute to a more social Europe, where no one is left behind and which invests in the full potential of young people.

  1. Mobility opportunities:

We organise quality learning mobility opportunities for professionals and for disadvantaged young people. In our activities, we connect young people, especially those who otherwise would not have had the possibility or motivation to meet other cultures.

While taking part in mobility opportunities, young people can develop the right soft skills that would later improve their chances of employability, while flourishing their talents, developing self-esteem and confidence in their abilities, as well as critical thinking and a better understanding of the European Union and the value of active citizenship. Our mobility opportunities also encompass professionals. As part of lifelong learning, we believe that further training of professionals ensures high quality in the various work fields with young people.

With these three types of activities, we extend formal education and training and thus bridge the gap between formal and non-formal learning. The YES Forum takes concrete actions by supporting young vulnerable people and professional working with them and thus contributing to the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan.

We adopt a multivariate gender-sensitive approach that considers preferences, motivations, barriers and disadvantages of the young person concerned. We work to ensure long-term improvement of their life chances, by helping to develop skills needed for employment and for autonomous life, such as: raised self-esteem, valorisation of collective decision- making, active citizenship and discovery of their talents.
